In a recent interview with Albuquerque Business First’s Ron Davis*, Price Land Development Group’s president Garret Price shared how progress in residential growth can positively impact commercial growth by creating the infrastructure needed for new commercial development.
“The “backbone” needs to be in place first, said Garret. The backbone means infrastructure: roads, sewer, water and drainage. There also needs to be public infrastructure such as schools, transportation and health care services. Price Land Development Group handles land acquisition, planning, entitling and development for its communities, or it partners with other homebuilders.
“Our niche is leading the initial phases of development with the hopes that the retail will follow,” Price said. “If you can time [lot development] where you’re coming online with [the backbone] or just after, we all know the retail element and office and other services will happen after it.”
