(Albuquerque, NM.)—October 11, 2022 – Albuquerque-based Price Land Development Group (Price) announces the hiring of certified public accountant (CPA) Craig Simpson as the company’s new Controller. Simpson brings more than three decades of real estate, finance, legal and property management experience to Price including corporate roles in land development, business ownership and accounting.

Additionally, Rico Gallegos has been promoted from Director of Finance to Vice President of Finance. Since joining the company in its early stages, Rico has been instrumental in helping Price founder, Garret Price grow the business into one of the largest residential developers in the State. As VP of Finance Rico will be responsible for the firm’s strategic and financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting

“We feel so fortunate to have Rico on our team and have valued his impact for several years now. Finding someone like Craig to add to this dynamic is a huge win for us,” said Price Land Development Group President Garret Price. “Craig not only brings a wealth and variety of experience, but he has the energy and outlook that matches our company culture and priorities; he’s excited about what we’re doing and will help us continue to be successful.”

Simpson started his career at McDonald’s Corporate Headquarters in Chicago as Corporate Real Estate Attorney quickly rising to Real Estate Development Manager overseeing new site development, property management and franchisee profit and loss. After eight years there, Simpson and his wife decided they were ready for a more moderate climate and a new opportunity. They became owners of a Dairy Queen in Espanola, NM and continued as operators for 26 years. During that time, he also had various full-time roles in financial management and accounting with Los Alamos National Laboratory and several national banking institutions. In 2016 Simpson was ready to hang up his restaurant apron and made the move to Albuquerque where he has spent the past six years working in finance and accounting. The desire to get back into land development, and the rare opportunity to do so in Albuquerque made the move to Price an easy decision. “I wanted to get back into real estate and after meeting with Garret I knew this was going to be a good fit. They’re all just great. The energy is great. They’re all so smart and excited about what the company is doing,” said Simpson.

With a degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and a law degree from DePaul University, Simpson brings to Price knowledge and experience from a myriad of specialties that will prove beneficial as Price continues to grow as a company and develop land in New Mexico. He is already jumping in on all of Price’s current projects including Colibri, Mariposa and Esencia.

In his free time, Simpson and his wife enjoy outdoor activities year-round. “The weather in Chicago made being outside pretty challenging so we take advantage of every season here. We love hiking and biking and often find our way to the ski slopes in winter.”
