Price Land Development Group (Price) was recently recognized by the NAIOP New Mexico Chapter at its Awards of Excellence event on December 8 in the residential category for its master-planned community Aspire, a top performing neighborhood featuring landscaped parks, gardens, and social gathering areas with designs that complement the surrounding desert, which is located on 83 acres in Southwest Albuquerque.
Price partnered with national home builder D.R. Horton to develop 506 lots within this gated community. Aspire has consistently ranked as a top-performing community for starts and closings in the Albuquerque-Santa Fe-Rio Rancho market and is planned to be completed by February 2027.
The prestigious award demonstrates Price Land Development Group’s long-standing commitment to acquisition, entitlement and development of residential communities that appeal to New Mexico residents in all stages of life from young families to single adults.
A community built on strength
Aspire was recognized for being resilient to historical and economic challenges by successfully navigating significant obstacles, including the heartbreaking discovery of human remains on-site, as well as the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is a complex project with challenges unlike any other site due to its history,” said Garret Price, president of Price Land Development Group. “The opportunity for our dedicated team and partners to be recognized for collaborating with numerous stakeholders to create a new beginning for families that choose to call Aspire home is incredibly rewarding.”
A community that offers innovative financing and affordability
The award also attributed Aspire’s establishment of the first Public Improvement District (PID) in the Southwest Mesa, which was able to secure crucial funding to help manage rising infrastructure costs and maintain affordability. This creative financing solution enabled the development of high-quality amenities and below-market lot prices, making the project financially viable for both the developer and homebuilder, while still providing affordable options for homebuyers at a time the local market is in desperate need of housing solutions.
A community dedicated to thoughtful design
Another area that set Aspire apart was its high-quality amenities such as community gardens, a central park, and enhanced security features, which resonate well with residents, strengthen community culture, and reflect strong thoughtful community engagement and planning.
All three of these key areas contributed to Price Land Development Group ultimately being named the 2024 Award of Excellence winner in the residential category.
“We are overjoyed to be recognized by the NAIOP and receive this award and we commend our fellow nominees and colleagues in this category,” Price added. “It is truly an honor receive this award alongside them and the fine work they are doing to build up our home state,” Price added.
In addition to D.R. Horton, The City of Albuquerque and City Councilor Klarissa Peña many Price partners and subcontractors have contributed to the success of Aspire including Consensus Planning, Isaacson & Arfman, Inc., Salls Brothers Construction, Yellowstone Landscaping, Rodey Law Firm, Aspen Masonry, Elite Communications, and TriWest Fence.
